I saw these fantastic Mason Jar Sewing Kits from Anthropologie not that long ago and thought they would work brilliantly to not only hold everything I need, but look good doing it. But because I'm kinda cheap I figured I would try to make one myself. It was actually surprisingly simple and only took a few minutes. All you really need is a mason jar, some scrap fabric (I used some white linen), wadding (or something similar) and a needle and thread. I'm sure there is a more professional way of doing this, but I favor quick and easy so all I did was cut my wadding into circles a little bit smaller than the jar seal and sandwiched about eight of them along with the jar seal in between two pieces of fabric. I then sewed the two pieces of fabric together, around the edge of the seal and popped it back through the lid and voila done! It's definitely much better looking and even more functional than my last sewing kit so now it sits proudly on my desk!
